ART STATEMENT

My artistic practice utilizes mixed media as a multi-faceted artistic medium, aiming to explore the interaction that the image brings between the artist creator and the viewer. My work focuses on the association of the image with public space, but also with the dimensions of time and memory, through the experience of living in an abandoned urban environment. My themes emerge from lived experiences and emphasize the approach of broader social groups, analyzing their forms of interaction and the ways in which they perceive state rules and mechanisms in their entirety, conservative or otherwise.


More specifically, I am particularly interested in graffiti art as well as the phenomenon of fanaticism within a variety of social contexts such as, fanaticism. The
dynamics of graffiti that it gives to the public space and in combination with its characterization as «marginalized art», constitute a particular cultural and
social phenomenon with many aspects. At the same time, based on the public art that emerges from empirical memory, I focus my research on the relationship between the public and the visual artwork that explores the urban landscape and the possible interactions between different social groups.

Public space arises from the social rules set by human groups through coexistence. Objects can create space, yet space still exists even if objects are moved
again. What makes public art public ? Oliver Marchart states that it is in the medium of competition that art becomes public, that is, as a field that allows
consensus to be reached. Public space carries total empirical memory and concerns time. The experience of time and memory is intertwined with space and the changes that result.


My artistic intention and research lies in highlighting the way in which the forms of coexistence and codes governing public discourse and space are inscribed in the body of the city and at the same time answering the question of how art can function as a tool of critique towards the urban community by redefining space through relations and displacements.
